Ben and I did the scariest thing ever in July of last year. We went Shark Diving! And, yes, it was scarier than skydiving!
I wasn't expecting it to be as scary as it was. I thought maybe we would see a few small (4-5 ft) sharks a safe distance away from the cage.
We went 3 miles off Oahu's North Shore by boat and got into a floating cage. I was struggling to get my mask and snorkel on in the water because the water was so choppy. Before I could get my mask on and see the action underwater I saw at least 15 shark fins circling the cage. It was just like I had seen in the movies, but 10 times scarier!
I finally got my mask on and stuck my head underwater. I didn't see the little 4 ft long sharks I was expecting. I saw at least 15, 8-10 ft long Galapagos Sharks. I was breathing harder than I knew I could and my heart was racing. The sharks came inches away from the cage. They were so close I could see their eyes focus on me. I've never been more scared in my life and I probably never will be again......
We took some great pictures with our underwater camera. There was no zoom on the camera. The sharks were actually that close.
Check it out!
