Ben and I haven't had much of a chance to explore Maryland yet. We visited the National Mall in Washington D.C. in the beginning of April. We saw the Washington Monument, World War II Memorial, Vietnam Veterans Memorial (aka “The Wall”), “The Three Servicemen”, Korean War Veterans Memorial and the Lincoln Memorial (to name a few).
We've have been taking the dogs on long walks/hikes on trails through the woods near our house. We're really enjoying the forest scenery (but we do miss palm trees). Scout and Smokey Joe love "hunting" the squirrels and groundhogs while we're on our walks. (There weren't any squirrels or groundhogs in Hawaii, only mongoose.) Today while I was at work Ben took the dogs on a hike at Gunpowder Falls State Park. They had a great time exploring.
Tomorrow Ben and I are going to a Baltimore Orioles baseball game. The Orioles are playing the Nationals. We're not fans of either team really but it's a rivalry game and we got the tickets for free. Major League Baseball games are always fun.
We are also planning a trip next weekend to Elk Neck State Park. Elk Neck State Park is located in North Eastern Maryland. We plan on hiking to a place called Turkey Point. Turkey Point has a lighthouse that is situated on a cliff 100 feet above the Chesapeake Bay. We're very excited. I'll be sure to take pictures and post them.
