I had my first official OBGYN appointment on Monday. I was lucky to have Ben there with me. The appointment was pretty routine. The doctor and I discussed results of blood tests I had done prior. Everything looked perfect. She checked my weight, blood pressure and all that. And of course I asked tons of questions.
The best part of the whole check-up was hearing the baby's heartbeat. Before the doctor put the Doppler to my belly she told me not to stress out if she couldn't find the heartbeat right away. She explained that sometimes the heartbeat is difficult to find early in the pregnancy. I started to get a little disappointed thinking I wasn't going to get a chance to hear it. But I'm telling you, the second that Doppler touched my stomach the heartbeat was coming through loud and clear.
I was so overcome with emotions. I was doing a cross between laughing and crying. I must of looked crazy but I didn't care. Ben thought it was pretty amazing too. The doctor told us that our baby has a healthy heartbeat. So far everything looks good. I'm just going to continue to take good care of myself and pray that little peanut and I stay healthy.
