Like I mentioned earlier Ben and I exchanged gifts the weekend before Valentine's Day. We wanted to be able to enjoy our time together. We spent the whole weekend at home. We ate good food and watched movies on the couch.
Ben and I have a hard time keeping secrets from each other. So naturally we were anxious to exchange gifts. First let me give you some background information:
A few months back I dragged Ben into one of my favorite local stores, Cinnamon Girl. I spotted this pink leather purse hanging on the wall and I fell in love with it. And then I looked at the price tag...It wasn't too outrageous, but I just wasn't willing to spend that money on something I didn't need.
Ben noticed I like the purse and tried to convince me to buy it. I told him that I did like it but it wasn't practical because pink doesn't match everything. I told him I wished it came in black or brown. We left the store and I didn't think about it again. But Ben did.
I was so shocked when I opened my Valentine's Day gift from Ben. He bought me that purse, but in brown! And not only that, but he filled it with other little gifts he knew I would like: perfume, bubble bath, a cute glasses holder for my nightstand, pouperie.
The most thoughtful thing in the purse, though, was the heart-shaped paperweight picture holder. Ben found the first picture of the two of us (taken nearly 4 years ago) and put it in the paperweight. I hadn't seen that picture in the longest time. Needless to say the paperweight is proudly displayed on my desk at work!
But it doesn't stop there. Ben gets to work before I do (we work in the same building). And on Valentine's Day he left chocolate truffles on my desk and emailed me this cute e-card he creatively made with Power Point.
I love him so much. And NOT just because of the gifts.
And in case you were wondering I got him an I-Pod with the Nike Sport Kit...not nearly as romantic, but very practical. ;-)
